Seconds at a Time

Afternoon. It's been a while. Can you believe it's already 2015? Goodness. Where did 2014 go? It feels like yesterday that I had started up this blog...I'll admit already, I didn't do a very good job at keeping up with my New Year's Resolutions from last year. Some I accomplished, some I made small progress on, and others just never saw the light at the end of the tunnel. I'd like to take the time to review what I declared last year, and attempt to reason on why I either accomplished my goal or not. Without further ado...– Lose weight.Status: Partially CompletedI did in fact, lose weight. I didn't make my goal target of 15 pounds, but I made it to 8. Still not to my standards unfortunately. A lot of it was due to inconsistent eating patterns. I would get on a health kit for a few weeks, lose sight of it, get back on it again, etc. My exercise patterns were also irregular throughout the really hot and cold parts of the year. This year, I shouldn't make any excuses and should stick to a pattern that I can handle every week.– Record a segment of every day.Status: CompletedThis has been one of my favorite movie projects that I've created, and I am excited it turned out way better than I thought it would be when I conceived the idea. It was surreal when I clicked the "Publish" button a few days ago. I still can't believe that I recorded 365 videos! I'm extremely excited that the last video turned out to be exactly how I planned it. This year was the perfect year to do this project. I unknowingly traveled to many places for work, including Denver, San Francisco, and Baltimore. The end of the year included an international trip to London for the Longhorn Alumni Band, where we marched in the New Year's Parade! Unfortunately, that parade wasn't included in the video (it did happen in 2015, after all), but nonetheless...this year marked a year full of travel, family, friends, and love. I am so grateful for everyone who was a part of my movie project. It's because of them that this project became successful and much more entertaining than I ever imagined it would be. So, thanks to all of you! Y'all are the best.I'd like to present to you, 2014: Seconds at a Time.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7erFor2nhY– Update all of my projects.StatusPartially CompletedWork kind of sucked up a lot of time for me this year. I have a lot of really old projects that may end up taking more time to fix up than it would be to just start anew, honestly. I've kept constant maintenance of MyAniList, but I also found myself struggling with a lot of API issues with the services I was working with. I ended up creating my own API server, but that also struggled constantly against a shared server environment (HostGator). This year, I intend to find a better service that can withstand lots of requests. I want to further my Python/Django skills by taking a Ruby/Sinatra-based application, and converting it as such. Then, improving upon that and making a service that people can register to.– Write a blog entry every week.Status: FailedIt's unfortunate that I didn't end up doing this. As I mentioned last year, I do get ideas about what to write pretty frequently. I think it's just whenever I have to take the effort to dig deep into my writing and explain everything in detail, I get halfway there and then realize that I have other things that I need to work on. As of this moment, I have four posts currently in draft state. The ideas are all there, I just need to push myself to finish it! Perhaps waking up at an earlier time would help in rectifying the whole time situation. This year, I won't say I'll write a new entry every week, but every two weeks seems very feasible. Please help me keep my word! Haha!– Improve my Korean/Japanese literacy.StatusIn ProgressI am always learning new words in Japanese and Korean. Mainly Japanese, since I've been recently indulged in manga and anime. I would like to continue my Korean literacy, as one of my goals in life is to stay in Korea for a year or so and get the full experience of living there. How that's gonna work with having a job, I have no idea...but I'll make it work somehow. Haha. This year, I intend to work harder on polishing and improving my comprehension and vocabulary.  My next blog post will be dedicated on what my New Year's Resolutions will be for this year. Hope you guys are already having an amazing start to 2015! Until next time,Corey
